Nyree Wright left the NHS to start Sage Femme because of her desire to give more individualised, continuity of care.
Before becoming a Midwife she trained as a specialist Nurse working with premature babies and their families on a Special Care Baby Unit. She has been a Midwife for 18 years working in a variety of settings. Her Midwifery experience covers antenatal, labour and postnatal care, working as part of a hospital team and on her own in the community. |
“I believe that too many women are denied the birth of their choice through no fault of their own. It can seem like a lottery as to whether any continuity of care is received.
Women need to know and trust their midwife to be free to birth in a calm and relaxed frame of mind. Tension is instrumental in delaying the progress of labour and can change what should be a life-enhancing time into a traumatic one. I believe passionately in natural birth but also feel that no woman should feel |
let down when this has not been possible.
I have given birth to five beautiful babies, with good and bad birth experiences. This has helped me to realize how truly important the relationship with your midwife can be. I carry this understanding into my work by remembering a woman's vulnerability but also her incredible strength. I always feel privileged to be part of such a special time in the life of a family and my aim is always to enrich that experience.” |
